Why study Cert IV in Engineering?
The Certificate IV in Engineering gives knowledge for a higher engineering tradesperson in the manufacturing, metal and related industries. The abilities required for this qualification are meant to be used in different engineering-related jobs, like air conditioning, casting and moulding, heavy fabrications, toolmaking, instrumentation, plant mechanics, patternmaking etc.
At the time of publication, no licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply. However, in some jurisdictions may relate to licensing or regulatory requirements.
How RPL ADVISOR assist you?
We can give you a FREE RPL Quote today !
RPL ADVISOR recognises the need to convert an overseas qualification into an Australian national qualification, and we offer a variety of fast and simple RPL distance training programs through our partner RTOs to meet any relevant requirements for Australia.
RPL ADVISOR can turn your expertise, talents, knowledge, or overseas credentials into a nationally recognised Australian certification through a comprehensive partner network of Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). The RPL evaluation process can often be done with established proof of your skills and does not necessitate further review.

Cert IV in Engineering
To be awarded the MEM40119 Certificate IV in Engineering units of competency to a value of 132 points must be achieved, chosen as outlined below:
- core units of competency listed below (totalling 33 points)
- elective units of competency to a minimum value of 12 points from Group A
- elective units of competency to a maximum value of 87 points from Group B to bring the total value to 132 points.
Appropriate Group B elective units to the value of 14 points may be chosen from this Training Package, other endorsed Training Packages and accredited courses where those units are available for inclusion in Certificate III and Certificate IV qualifications. Only select units that would be suitable for occupational outcomes in a higher engineering trade environment.
Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) must seek a determination from the industry parties in respect of the allocation of points values for units of competency drawn from other Training Packages or accredited courses. Determination of points requests are to be submitted to the industry parties through Innovation and Business Skills Australia (IBSA) Manufacturing. Refer to the MEM Companion Volume Implementation Guide for information on determination of unit points values.
Prerequisites
Points associated with prerequisites count towards the total. Units with prerequisite requirements are marked with an asterisk (refer to the individual units for details). All prerequisites are included in the units listed.
